The Quy Women's Institute plays an important part in village life. We are a group of like-minded women who meet in the Village Hall on the first Tuesday of the month at 7.30pm. We welcome visitors and new members to bring fresh ideas to our meetings.
We start the meetings with administrative matters followed by a speaker on varied subjects and the evening ends with a quiz or discussion.
Once a year we hold an 'Open meeting'. We are part of a National Organisation with County and London head-quarters. We have our own further education College: Denman College in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.
The character of the organisation is non-sectarian and non party-political. The main purposes of the WI movement are to improve and develop conditions of rural life and to advance the education of country women in the very widest understanding. It seeks to give us an opportunity to work together to achieve our aims and ideals.
We are an Educational Registered Charity and as a democratic organisation, we hold an Annual Meeting. This year our officers are:
President Mrs Margaret Lowe
Secretary Mrs June Miles
Treasurer Mrs Lily Theobold
